UPDATE: GEMP + WAPT Tutorials

Hey Everyone!

I’ve received quite a few messages asking about this, so here’s a quick update:

We will DEFINITELY be running more tutorials next year to help with your GEMP and WAPT preparation! We will however only finalize dates in the beginning of the year.. This year we started with the tutorials in June, so we will likely be looking at a similar time-frame for next year. We will keep you updated with everything as it happens. In the meantime, you can join our WAPT Telegram group where all notifications are posted, and where you can ask any questions you may have:

Final Push for WAPT 2019!

The WAPT is only one day away! This is just a short message to everyone writing this year – YOU’VE GOT THIS!!

WAPT GL

Believe in yourself! You’ve gotten this far, and you’re only one step away from meeting all of the requirements! One step away from achieving that place in medicine!

Get some good rest tonight so that you’re at your best to write the test tomorrow! It will be a long day and you don’t want to be drained before you even start writing. This test requires a lot of thinking and effort, so make sure you get a good night’s sleep and a good meal to keep you going throughout the day.

Don’t panic when you see the massive number of people writing with you tomorrow – focus on yourself, and know that you’ve deserved your place to write this test! Don’t get caught up by other people’s conversations and achievements – you’re here with them, so you’ve done just as well as them, and you deserve your place to be here!

Take your time! It’s a 3 hour test, so pace yourself! Don’t panic if you get stuck with a bunch of questions – breathe, relax, and come back to it later! There are 50 questions per section, so it’s ok to miss one or two and return to them later!

Focus only on the things that YOU can control. It’s an overwhelming day from start to finish, and a lot of things can throw you off your game. Focus on you. Focus on why you’re here and what you have to do. Focus on your dream!

Enjoy it! This journey is meant to be hard, and when you achieve that place in GEMP it’s all going to be worth it! Enjoy the experience for what it is, and enjoy the feeling of being one of a select few who have gotten this far!

GOOD LUCK!! I wish every single one of you the best of luck for the test!!

Wits Medicine Applications 2020

With the applications for the Wits Graduate Entry Medical Program opening up on 1 March 2019, I thought it would be a good idea to open up this space for any questions that you may have regarding your applications to study medicine at Wits (either through GEMP or the first-year program). Leave them in the comment section either here or in the video below, and I will get them answered directly through the faculty.

Hopefully that helps with your applications and any uncertainty you may be having at the moment!

To those who are thinking of applying, GOOD LUCK!
